A group of friends are clocking up the training miles in preparation for an exciting new charity challenge in memory of brave Birmingham boy Harry Moseley.

Inspired by the Sheldon schoolboy’s selfless efforts to help fellow cancer victims, father-of-one Brian Bennett and friend Mel Castle have launched the Cycling for Harry event, which will take place on May 12 and 13.

It will see 27 friends cycle over 100 miles in two days – from Blakenhale School, in Sheldon, where Harry was a pupil, to Wembley Stadium in London – raising more than £10,000. Among those taking part will be Harry’s mother Georgie and brother Louis, aged 15, and former Birmingham City footballer Michael Johnson.

They will be joined by Tim Andrews, managing director of Tyseley-based signs and graphics specialist Hollywood Monster. The company has agreed to be the main sponsor of the event.

It will be followed on Sunday May 13 by Freeradio’s Walk for Harry, a 26-mile walk around Birmingham which will raise money for two charities close to Harry’s heart. Tim. Michael and Georgie, along with ‘Blind Dave’ Heeley, will complete the first leg of the cycle challenge and return to Birmingham to take part in the Walk for Harry.

More than 200 people recently attended an event at Hollywood Monster’s Birmingham headquarters to make over 6,000 of Harry’s trademark bracelets to sell during the walk to the thousands taking part.

Harry’s selfless story touched the hearts of tens of thousands of people across the globe, including many celebrities, as he raised more than £500,000 for Cancer Research UK by selling hand-made bracelets.

He rose to prominence in 2007 and attracted almost 100,000 followers on Twitter, coining the phrase ‘Help Harry Help Others’. Harry sadly died last October aged 11 as a result of an inoperable brain tumour.

Brian, aged 34, also from Sheldon, who works at Mereway Kitchens in Tyseley, said: “I became aware of Harry’s story and started following him on Twitter. Seeing how saddened everyone was on news of his death I decided I had to do something to continue Harry’s hard work, and the Brum to Wembley cycle ride was born.”

He added: “I’m delighted that Georgie and Louis will be joining us on what will be our tribute to Harry. The total distance will be approximately 104miles and it is going to be tough. We are all amateurs at cycling – some of us didn’t even own a bike until this challenge – so it is not a race. It’s purely about achieving the goal of fundraising and raising awareness about brain tumours so that we can continue the work that Harry started.”

Anyone that wants to support Cycling for Harry can visit www.cyclingforharry.co.uk, or www.justgiving.com/cyclingforharry, or text a donation to 70070 and type the code QXHE51£(your amount).

Georgie will be joined by family members when she takes part in Freeradio’s Walk for Harry on Sunday, May 13. The 26-mile walk around the city is expected to attract about 10,000 people. Freeradio station, which organises the event, said money raised would be split between Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital and the Acorns Children’s Hospice in Selly Oak.

Our Managing Director accepts the invitation to become a Trustee to Harry Moseley's campaign HelpHarryHelpOthers. Click 'READ MORE' to find out more

It was announced today that our Managing Director, Tim Andrews has accepted the honorable role of being a Trustee of Harry Moseley’s HelpHarryHelpOthers charity.

It was announced on the day the new website (www.hhho.co.uk) was launched to help promote the campaign. Tim joins a great team of people including Georgina Moseley (Harry’s mom), Trina Harley (the widow of Harry’s friend Robert), Peter Ellis (solicitor and ex Big Brother contestant), Kelly Nunn (close family friend), Ed James (HeartFm DJ) & Tom Ross (Freed Radio). Ambassadors to the charity are John Terry (England and Chelsea), Duncan Bannatyne (Dragon), Ben Shepard (TV), Wincey Willis (TV), The Phelps twins (Harry Potter), Ian Taylor (ex Aston Villa) and Michael Johnson (ex Blues)

The launch of the charity is another dream of Harry’s to be achieved since he died last October. Whilst battling an inoperable brain tumour himself, Harry was inspired to make a difference to all people with brain cancer when a friend of his who had a brain tumour become very ill. In just over two years Harry organised and attended over 80 events which included sitting outside supermarkets selling his bracelets, delivering his powerpoint presentation in businesses and schools and public speaking at large public events to audiences of 500 people. Sadly Harry’s health took a sudden turn for the worse following brain surgery in August 2011 and after 14 weeks in a coma Harry passed away in his mom’s arms peacefully at home on 8th October 2011.

He has so far raised over £650,000 and of course the charity will continue his great work, in an effort to fund a cure for Cancer.

Fifteen Graphic design Students, aged between 16 and 18, visited HM for a tour of the facility.

The students are currently studying graphic design in sixth form at AS and A level at Bromsgrove School, which is acclaimed to be one of the finest independent schools in the country, and is listed within the top ten (sometimes top five) of all British coeducational boarding/day schools.

Emma Densem, head of Design and Technology, chose HM because of their ability to showcase desk top graphic design through to cutting edge wide format production technology and complementary signmaking under one roof.

During the visit, the students witnessed the wide range of skill sets within the business, from conceptual design through to completion. They received demonstrations on the variations of machinery and substrates used within the business, including vinyl plotting and printing at 1.5m wide using the very latest water based latex printing inks, 3m UV flat bed printing machines to include white ink technology, our 3m and 5m wide roll to roll machines and finally the computer aided finishing equipment.

Tim Andrews, Managing Director of Hollywood Monster welcomed the students to Hollywood Monster and explained that school links are vitally important to the business, Having established what was then Hollywood Signs with his dad in the attic of his parents home, Tim understands how challenging it can be to follow your dream, and actively encourages working partnerships with creative students especially in the current economic climate. He believes that it is a tough world out there for young people trying to get a foothold in their chosen career and therefore offers students work experience opportunities and the chance to get involved in commercial projects to give them the edge when applying for jobs in the sector.

For further information please contact Tim Andrews on 07774100013

Sunday 25th March 2012 saw BCFC meet Cardiff City at a Birmingham home game where they drew. For HM it was an opportunity to also show our support and best wishes for Fabrice Muamba who suffered a cardiac arrest whilst playing for Bolton in the FA cup match against Tottenham.

The Hollywood Monster made banner was taken on the pitch before the start of the game in support of Fabrice who is in critical condition in hospital. We at HM are joining the many fans in rooting for his speedy recovery. The club, its management, players and around 18,000 fans had a one minute’s applause for him before the game.

Fabrice Muamba holds a special place in the BCFC supporters’ hearts; he played at BCFC in 2007 on a loan spell having played for Arsenal previously. He made more than 70 appearances for BCFC and made his England under-21 debut while with the team. In 2008, he joined his present club Bolton Wanderers , he has played almost 150 times for them.

Tim Andrews, Managing director at Hollywood Monster had this to say:

“Fabrice lived next door to me in Kew and would always have a smile on his face to greet you! He was humble and gracious, never forgetting where he came from and the journey to success”

Our thoughts and prayers are with his fiancée and family. “ Get Well Soon Fab!”

A group of friends have put wheels in motion to launch an exciting new charity challenge in memory of brave Birmingham boy Harry Moseley.

The company has agreed to be main sponsor of the event.

Seeing how saddened everyone was on news of his death I decided I had to do something to continue Harry’s hard work, and the Brum to Wembley cycle ride was born.

“Originally I announced it on Facebook to just a few mates, but it quickly became a larger group. Then, with the help of Twitter, we suddenly had even more exposure with celebrities and friends of Harry becoming involved. We’ve had some fantastic support from individuals and local companies. We’re already well on our way to achieving our target but we would encourage as many people as possible to donate to what is a very worthy cause.”

Brian, who is a Birmingham City fan, said the group of cyclists includes supporters of all the major West Midlands football clubs.

Michael Johnson said: “I’m delighted and honoured to be part of this fabulous event in aid of Harry, a young boy who in his short life made such an impact on me. I’ve had several weeks of training and will be taking to my bike along with Mel, Brian and the rest of the team on the short journey to Wembley . We will be helping raise funds and raising awareness of what Harry stood for.”

Blues goalkeeper Jack Butland is among the people who have already supported the fundraising effort, donating match fees to the cause. Anyone that wants to support Cycling for Harry can visit www.cyclingforharry.co.uk, or www.justgiving.com/cyclingforharry, or text a donation to 70070 and type the code QXHE51£(your amount).

Birmingham City FC have thrown their weight behind the fundraising and have invited Brian and friends to collect sponsorship from fans at St Andrews before and during the match against Crystal Palace on April 7.

Harry’s mum Georgie and her family will also take part in BRMB’s Walk for Harry on Sunday, May 13. The 26-mile walk around the city is expected to attract about 10,000 people. BRMB radio station, which organises the event, said money raised would be split between Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital and the Acorns Children’s Hospice in Selly Oak.

Birmingham City Ladies football stars are getting a Hollywood makeover again this season – after a leading West Midlands company pledged its support as the FA Women’s Super League (FAWSL) prepares to kick off.

Signs and graphics giant Hollywood Monster has agreed to sponsor the Blues team’s new shirts as they embark on their second campaign in the Football Association’s eight-club elite woman’s competition.

Birmingham City Ladies will have a new look this season and Jo Potter and Emily Westwood were on hand to unveil the kit at a recent exhibition. Blues Ladies last season just missed out on the title to arch rivals Arsenal but will hope to clinch the title this time around after strengthening their squad. They now have more England players than any of their rivals and are looking forward to their first ever UEFA Champions League campaign.

They will face top teams including Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool in the FAWSL which takes place during the summer months. Their first league match at their home ground in Stratford-upon-Avon will be against Everton Ladies on Sunday, March 18.

The aim of the league is to establish and grow the women’s game while attracting a wider audience by introducing family friendly activities including keepy-uppy competitions and music entertainment before and after matches. The launch last year of the Women’s Super League was the single biggest event to happen in women’s football in the UK.

Hollywood Monster has sponsored Birmingham City FC for 20 years and jumped at the chance to extend its sponsorship of the women’s team shirts for another year.

Managing director Tim Andrews said: “Hollywood Monster is delighted to announce that we are continuing our support of Birmingham City Ladies at what is a very exciting time for women’s football. We really enjoyed following the team last season and they were so unlucky to miss out on the title but we’re confident they can go one better this time.

“We’ll be supporting the team all the way as they once again take on the elite of women’s football in England. We’re proud to be associated with the ladies team and we hope that they can bring more silverware back to St Andrew’s.”

Tickets for all games are priced at £6 for adults and £3 for concessions and can be purchased via any of the following option.

The FAWSL aims to be family friendly and fans will be able to interact with their favourite players both at matches and online. Fans can visit facebook.com/FAWSL or www.fawsl.com throughout the season to have a say in their league and clubs, and to access exciting behind the scenes news and videos from players. The FA is investing a total of £3million over two years in the FAWSL.

Hollywood Monster has invested heavily in state-of-the-art printing technology enabling it to produce enormous banners and advertising hoardings at high-profile sites including sports stadiums, festivals, rock and pop concerts, shopping centres and property developments.

Hollywood Monster services a variety of industries across the UK including: industrial, commercial and residential construction & development; retail; professional services; exhibition; event and stadium; museum & theatrical. Hollywood Monster was created in August 2009 with the coming together of sister companies Hollywood Signs and Monster Digital. Employing in excess of 80 people, the 30,000 sq ft premises is situated in the centre of the UK, providing an excellent distribution centre to the rest of the UK, complemented by sales offices in Birmingham and London.
West Midlands graphic solutions company Hollywood Monster is enjoying an epic year, creating jobs in a period of significant growth following major investment in new technology.

In a time of economic turmoil, the ambitious company has been winning new business and has increased its workforce by 40 per cent to cope with demand.

Creating 19 new jobs, including apprenticeships for young people, in a time of rapidly rising unemployment is one of the achievements that gives managing director Tim Andrews huge satisfaction as the company goes from strength to strength.

The Birmingham-based company is set for another successful 12 months after already securing several major new contracts in 2012. By increasing its workforce to 80 the company has put itself in a strong position to meet the anticipated increase in demand for its services.

Annual turnover is expected to increase by around £1 million to £6.5 million this year. A business improvement project designed to provide clients with a better service but also make the company more efficient is paying major dividends. It is also working towards the Quality Assurance standard ISO 9001.

Tim, himself a former apprentice, said: “While many businesses are unfortunately folding or making a some of their workforce redundant, we have been in the fortunate position to create 19 jobs.

“Some of these vacancies have been offered to apprentices as we want to recruit fresh new talent and allow them to train on the job. Many of the people we employ started this way. This approach will allow us to grow a strong, experienced workforce to help secure the business’s future.”

Besides offering apprenticeships, Hollywood Monster is also committed to working with young, creative students from local schools, colleges and academies, providing work experience placements and support with supplies for art projects.

Tim said: “It’s a tough world out there for young people trying to get a foothold in their chosen career so we are delighted to be in a position where we can offer students work experience opportunities.”

The company has invested £2 million in the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment to enable it to widen its services to customers – a key ingredient in its current growth.

As well as working with renowned retail names such as Westfield and Next, and Hollywood Monster also has clients in the housing sector, including Lovell Homes, Redrow, Bovis Homes and, more recently, Barratt Developments. Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes, David Wilson Homes and Ward Homes, has signed a two-year agreement with the company, one of three preferred suppliers, to produce sales and marketing signage across the whole of the UK for one of the nation’s largest housebuilders.

Tim added: “More and more customers are recognizing and appreciating the quality of our work and Hollywood Monster has gained a great reputation for delivering projects on budget and on time. As the business grows, so will our people and that – particularly in this tough economic climate – is one of the most satisfying aspects of the success we are currently enjoying.”
