Hollywood monster is chosen to supply signage overlooking the busiest motorway junction in the Midlands

16 Mar 2010 | Leave a Comment |

Hollywood Monster have manufactured and installed 2m high lettering which sits proudly overlooking the M6 and M5 junction in Walsall onto the premises of Vision Paper and board Ltd adjacent to the famous RAC building.

Hollywood Monster was chosen ahead of competition to supply the high profile signage to the factory facade due to the experience demonstrated in large format installations at prestigious schemes such as The Mailbox, Matthew Boulton College, the Fort Dunlop building and many industrial and distribution schemes across the UK.

The sign consists of individual aluminium built up letters with halo illumination, internally illuminated by LED bulbs. LED’s were chosen ahead of neon for its power saving & low maintenance characteristics.

Tim Andrews, Managing Director of Hollywood Monster Ltd, commented ‘We were absolutely delighted to work on this high profile project. Much of the day motorists are at a stand still around this area, and therefore it gives Vision the ideal opportunity to generate maximum exposure through our signage’.

Hollywood Monster supports Haiti through Westfield London’s Fashion for Relief Pop Up Shop

1 Mar 2010 | Leave a Comment |

Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief event kicked off London Fashion Week at Somerset House with a catwalk show and auction raising money in aid of The White Ribbon Alliance.  The charity supports the health needs and rights of women and girls around the world, with special focus on its partners in Haiti at this time, who are helping to rebuild the healthcare system for mothers and babies.

Supporting the Fashion For Relief campaign Westfield London opened a temporary Pop Up Shop for which Hollywood Monster donated the window vinyls.  Projections, atmospheric lighting and Fashionista DJ’s all added to creating a space in which charity and fashion meet to make good things happen. Many suppliers got on board to help with the cause and local Fashion Students, QPR footballers and Westfield staff volunteered their time to help promote around the centre all throughout the weekend.

Vivienne Westwood designed a limited edition t-shirt in collaboration with Fashion For Relief in aid of Haiti. The charity t-shirts were sold solely at the pop-up shop until Sunday 21st February, which was opened exclusively by R&B singer Lemar.

Naomi Campbell, Erin O’Connor, Dame Shirley Bassey plus many more celebrities signed the exclusive Vivienne Westwood shirts which retailed for just £40. There were also signed celebrity photos on display in the Vivienne Westwood pop up shop.

Managing Director Tim Andrews commented ‘We are thrilled to be working again with Westfield up and down the country to support their events and make their Shopping Centres stand out with high quality branding and signage solutions.  We are very pleased to donate and provide the window graphics for such a good cause’.

Speaking about Hollywood Monster’s contribution, Westfield London’s Marketing Communications Manager Ciara O’Reilly said ‘I want to say thank you so much for your seriously generous donation to our Haiti Pop Up Shop. It looks fantastic and we are really delighted with getting it all together in such a short space of time with lots of help from our friends!’.

Retail delight for Hollywood Monster as company chosen for signage and graphics at some of the UK’s newest and most prestigious retail developments

7 Feb 2010 | Leave a Comment |

Hollywood Monster has recently delivered over £500,000 of graphic displays and permanent signage at sites in Birmingham, Cardiff, London and throughout the East Midlands.

The start of Autumn represented one of the busiest periods on record for Hollywood Monster, with the output and installation of over 10,000 square metres of new temporary and permanent signage, graphics and visual media for projects the company has been involved in and planning for some considerable amount of time.

Bucking the national economic trend, the Retail sector has continued to grow and expand with a number of new shopping centre developments already having come online or scheduled to open in 2010. Hollywood has been integral to many of these developments, providing high quality signage and graphics that create real impact and a lasting impression. The company’s track record and expertise in this sector is considerable, maintaining strong relationships with many of the UK’s largest operators of Retail Parks, Shopping centres and Out of town developments. Hollywood  Monster work with some of the UK’s biggest brands in retail and development including Westfield, Hammerson, Debenhams, Virgin and HMV at exclusive sites such The Mailbox, Cabot Circus, Westfield Shopping Town in Stratford and Merry Hill.

The projects in focus were all completed on time and to budget and secured via a combination of existing long term client relationships and the submission and award of new tenders. They feature signage, media and branding specifically designed to lift the overall visual appeal and impression of each respective venue.

Amongst the recently completed projects since the start of Autumn include :

  • New £22 million Eat Central Food Court development at Westfield Shopping Centre Merry Hill in Dudley, West Midlands.

In a contract worth over £250,000, Hollywood Monster co-ordinated the complete rebranding of the shopping centre to announce the arrival of the new food court. Products provided included extensive signage, graphics and way finding signage throughout the centre to promote the opening of the new food court. The project was completed in time for the launch which saw over 10,000 people through the doors on the first day.

  • The opening of the new £675 St David’s 2 development in the heart of Cardiff.

A £100,000 contract to provide temporary vacant retail unit shrouds throughout the venue. The contract included some 3,000 square metres of digital print at one of the most important city developments in the UK today and currently the largest private financial investment in Wales, the scheme builds on present assets including the existing St David’s Shopping Centre and much of the Hayes. The scheme is set to transform the Southern end of the City and give a currently underused area a new lease of life by creating attractive and safe public spaces for people. It encompasses new stores, bars, restaurants and luxury residential apartments as well as enhanced public areas and facilities, a new central library and the modernisation of the existing shopping centre.

  • On going contract to support Debenhams Department Stores.

At sites throughout the UK, Hollywood Monster have provided window dressing graphics and in store promotional signage for a sports and leisure campaign. The work was carried out under direct contract with Debenhams.

  • Signage and graphics for Virgin Stores throughout the UK.

Various shop front window dressing displays and graphics at stores throughout the UK, including window dressing at their flagship store along Oxford Street in London.

Talking about the various projects, managing Director Tim Andrews said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been selected to provide signage and graphics at each of these highly prestigious projects which is a real coup for the business. I believe it is testament to the increased ability the company has to service multiple projects at the same time as a result of the merging of traditional signage and graphics company Hollywood Signs and large format digital print business Monster Digital over the summer. We now benefit from multiple economies of scale and cost savings which we directly pass onto our clients. The team has worked tirelessly over the past couple of months to deliver all of these projects and we are all very proud of their achievements. Our understanding of the retail sector and the most effective signage solutions is second to none and our track record growing with every new commission”.

Hollywood Monster sponsors charity gathering of over 100 leading West Midlands based office property agents

25 Nov 2009 | Leave a Comment |

Executives from the company recently attended an Annual Charity Drinking Event hosted at The Metro Bar in Birmingham on the 12th November organised by the Office Agents Society.
Hollywood Monster were one of five main companies supporting the event, sponsoring its very own beer pump for the night and making a donation directly to the charity chosen by the OAS.
The principal aim of the OAS is to promote knowledge and expertise amongst office agents across the UK. This is achieved through the organisation of regular events, seminars, lectures and educational tours. Currently the Society has around 1,000 members nationwide and over 150 members in the West Midlands.
The event represented a great opportunity to witness OAS committee members embarrassing themselves whilst assisting Metro staff behind the bar, catch-up with the latest market gossip and have a quiet drink with the best of the Midlands property community.
Talking about the event, Managing Director Tim Andrews said, “We are already working with a lot of the agents who are active members of the OAS so when we were approached to be a main sponsor it seemed to make perfect sense. A lot of the agents have had a rough ride of late coming through the recession so an event like this is great to lift people’s spirits and get things kick started again. We look forward to being a pro-active partner to the OAS and supporting whatever else they have planned over the coming months”.

Not a lot of people know but our facility operates 24 hrs a day, 5 days a week

29 Sep 2009 | Leave a Comment |

The merging of Hollywood Signs and Monster Digital back in August presented the company with a number of considerable challenges, one of which was the critical requirement to merge all of the plant and equipment from either company all together and operational under one roof.   This led to a complex consultation about how to best organise and layout the new factory and equipment into the most efficient and productive way.  Testament to the skill and experience of the installation teams and plant engineers the company employs was the fact that just five days after moving in, the factory was declared 100% operational.

The move into one new, consolidated facility brings many advantages and economies of scale to the business.  It enables the 25 strong production team to operate in 30,000 sq ft of open space, able to call upon an impressive array of state of the art signage and digital printing equipment and tools.  Amongst the state of the art UV Digital printing machines available to the team includes :

  • A five metre wide HP Expedio
  • A five metre HP Revolution
  • Vutek QS3200 Flatbed
  • 14 metre Hi Frequency welder

Together with many other leading graphic and flatbed production machines.

Production Manager Mat Jephcott who oversaw the move into the new facility and the commissioning of the print machines, commented : ”The new space this factory now brings to our overall capacity is significant.   To have all of the machines and production resources we had separately at Hollywood and Monster together in one place is excellent.  It enables us to provide a round the clock print and stitch facility that not a lot of other graphics companies can offer”   MD Tim Andrews went on to say : “the final commissioning of the new machines heralded another milestone in the company’s 18 year history, signalling an exciting new era for both companies”

The factory operates 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year and every month outputs an average of 30,000 sq metres of printed signage and media.

Amongst some of the first contracts to roll off the production line included banners and plural to re-brand Birmingham city Football Club throughout the stadium ready for their return to the Premiership, 500 metres of temporary signage to provide a secure perimeter and promote the 2012 Olympic Village development in London, pitchside perimeter signage for Stoke City FC and a 10,000 sq m pvc trade supply order including a seventy five vehicle re-brand exercise for a major building contractor across the UK.
