Hollywood Monster gets in gear with women’s cycling

Signs and graphics giant Hollywood Monster is gearing up its support for women’s sport by sponsoring one of the UK’s leading cycling teams.

Matrix Fitness – Vulpine is at the forefront of the development of women’s cycling in the UK with team alumni including two-time world champion Dani King and Olympic gold medallist Joanna Rowsell.

The team of 10 is mentored by current European and eight-time UK national cyclo-cross champion, Helen Wyman.

Hollywood Monster’s partnership with Matrix Fitness – Vulpine couldn’t have come at a better time for the team, with exciting events scheduled throughout the year.

The two biggest events include The Women’s Tour, starting tomorrow (Wednesday May 7th). This is the first time the tour of Britain has been staged for women and it will be televised to a worldwide audience.

The team (who use the social media identity On The Drops) will also be gearing up for The Tour Series, where they will compete in five city centre criteriums. Birmingham-based Hollywood Monster will be cheering them on all the way.

Tim Andrews, Hollywood Monster’s managing director and keen cyclist, said: “We are thrilled to be involved with Matrix Fitness – Vulpine. I have a feeling that the ladies’ cycling sector is going to explode over the next few years and we’re very happy to provide all the support we can. Hollywood Monster is committed to women’s sport and this partnership sits nicely with our on-going support for top women’s football team, Birmingham City Ladies.”

Stefan Wyman, the cycling team’s sports director and manager, said: “This exciting new partnership means a huge amount to the team. Tim and Hollywood Monster are committed to women’s sport and with their support we will be able to take a huge step forward and will help us reach our aspirations of becoming a professional team.

“With Hollywood Monster’s long term involvement with women’s football, it’s clear that they have a good understanding of the way women’s sport works, its points of return and the challenges facing it.  Hopefully this is the start of a long term involvement with women’s cycling for Hollywood Monster.”

The team was officially launched in Manchester in March, and it has since travelled to the South of France for a two-week training camp ready for the Women’s Tour. Hollywood Monster has sponsored Birmingham City Ladies FC for the past three years, which has seen the team win the Women’s FA Cup and embark on its first UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign.
