Hollywood Signs remains head and shoulders above the rest


Despite the uncertainty surrounding the UK economy, Midlands based Hollywood Signs is looking to expand its team to service those in the property market that continue to push ahead with activity.

Hollywood Signs has already seen its staff numbers increase by an impressive 600% over the last six years, and with the recent completion of several large contracts in the region, the Birmingham based company continues to support the property sector that has been instrumental in its growth over the last 17 years.

The company is now looking to expand on the current 50 strong team by the end of next year in order to service the large amount of developers and contractors that, even in the current market conditions, are still moving forward with a number high level projects in the region.

Launched in 1991, the company offers full service project management, design and production of high quality signage solutions, and together with the property market has also recently branched out into residential and retail markets.

The most recent example of the latter is the completion of the innovative hoarding at developer Calthorpe Estates’ Edgbaston Galleries scheme. One of the company’s most prestigious contracts in Birmingham to date, Hollywood Signs produced the 300m long hoarding, the longest ever seen in Birmingham city centre, to surround the 424,500 sq ft site earmarked for a landmark £110 million mixed use development.

Taking 3 weeks from concept to delivery, the hoarding design is a first for Birmingham, with large eye-catching images bursting from the hoarding.

Andy McKenzie Commercial Director at Hollywood Signs, said: “Although nobody can deny that many companies have been hit by the credit crunch, we are still seeing continued demand for high quality signage from across the Midlands, London and the UK as a whole.

“If anything, property developers and investors alike are recognising the need for robust marketing and signage solutions in these uncertain times, where visibility and standing out from the crowd is arguably more important than ever.”

The well-established company is looking to grow the production arm of the business in particular, and as part of the recruitment drive has already appointed eight new people to the team, three in sales and five project managers.

“The demand for our services steadily rose throughout the nineties and early noughties, with 2005 seeing interest in our services skyrocket – we haven’t looked back since!

“The recruitment drive will only strengthen Hollywood Sign’s position as a leader in quality. The enlarged team will enable us to cope with demand and focus on the company’s growth and expansion into new markets, including the sports sector.

“Whilst we are committed to our West Midlands roots, we have a growing client list across the regions of the UK, especially London that we will build on further as we have the resources to go after more of the bigger, national contracts.”

Long favoured by many of the region’s leading companies, Andy believes that the company’s success is down to creativity, the quality of service and project management, and a deep understanding of the markets they work within.

Hollywood Sign’s other notable projects include the production of the iconic rooftop sign at The Mailbox, Birmingham, a logo that has become firmly recognisable to all across the city and the recently erected creative hoarding at Masshouse in Eastside. As well as the Midlands, Hollywood Signs counts national companies as its clients too, most recently at Argent Group’s Kings Cross scheme in London, a project totalling over £100K.
