Monster flag helps Messi kick-off World Cup campaign

Hollywood Monster kicked off World Cup fever in style when it produced a colossal flag for sports brand giant ADIDAS in double-quick time.

The West Midlands signs and graphics specialists created the huge 9m (29ft 6ins) by 6.6m (21ft 8ins) flag, featuring the name of FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi and his logo, for Argentina’s pre-tournament friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.

No extra time was required to produce the fan flag: the company managed to turnaround the order in just 24 hours.

As soon as it was completed, it was whisked to London to be flown to Argentina, where Messi led out the Argentina team at the Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti, Buenos Aires, for the World Cup warm-up.

The huge flag, which was unfurled before kick-off by spectators, was commissioned by global London-based agency IRIS Worldwide for ADIDAS as part of the build-up to the World Cup in Brazil. See the flag in all its glory at the match here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7T-jr-iRgQI

Tim Andrews, managing director of Hollywood Monster in Birmingham, said: “You could say it was a tall order but we knew we had the expertise and technology to be able to produce this huge flag quickly so it could be used to welcome Messi and his teammates at the game.

“To watch it being passed around the stadium before the match gave us all a huge sense of pride. We’re looking out for it during the World Cup tournament, too.”

The flag was printed on 115gsm, polyester flag material and was produced on Hollywood Monster’s M-TEX Dye sublimation printer.

Guy Cain, senior production manager at IRIS Worldwide, said: “Hollywood Monster was our first port of call for the Argentine flag because we knew we could rely on them to produce exactly what was needed and to our very tight schedule.”
